The AAUW Reno Branch announces the formation of a new scholarship,
managed by the Nevada Women’s Fund!
This scholarship offers financial assistance to women who are pursuing a degree that will improve their careers, allow for a career change, and/or enable reentry into the workforce. This financial support can be used for any expense that helps the individual attain her identified educational goals. Special circumstances such as barriers or hardships experienced by the applicant will be taken into consideration. Award decisions are to be based on financial need, family situations, and/or educational goals.
We will offer two scholarships of $1,500 each to students attending the University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College beginning with the 2020-2021 academic year, continuing annually thereafter.

AAUW Reno was chartered in 1917, making us the oldest branch in Nevada by almost three decades! We are the local branch of a national organization of individuals from all walks of life who share a vision in advancing education and equity for women and girls. We are part of a network that makes a difference both locally and nationally. We welcome members from all professions and businesses who care about issues that are critical women and girls. The only requirement for membership is the equivalent of an associate’s degree or higher. Be part of a powerful voice on women’s issues.
We hope you join us at a meeting or event – check our calendar page to see what’s coming up. It’s a great opportunity to have fun, learn a little and make lifelong friends. We also have a number of interest groups, including two book groups, several bridge groups, a Great Decisions group, a local “travel” group, lunch diners and we raise almost $10,000 every year for local and national scholarships.
AAUW members and supporters stand up to bias and bigotry. AAUW’s voice is needed now more than ever.We need your support to fight against unequal representation of women in business and government, discrimination and harassment in the workplace and on campus, the gender pay gap, and more.
